From June 1st, 2019, tenants were no longer required to pay any fees to agents or landlords for initiating or administering a tenancy. These fees had previously been used to offset the expenses incurred by landlords when changing tenants over the years.
The fees that tenants were charged previously included the expenses associated with carrying out the necessary safety and legal checks to safeguard the landlord’s interests.
