Education Guide: Brampton Village

The Cambridgeshire village of Brampton, nestled within surrounding countryside and located beside Hinchingbrooke Country Park, is a welcoming and active community just 2 miles south of Huntingdon Town. The train station offers direct lines into London St Pancras International and the latest A14 bypass development provides accessible routes to Cambridge City Centre. An ideal location, Brampton is highly desirable for families moving into the village with playing fields, multiple parks, local shops and plentiful societies and clubs to join from sports to crafts. Enjoy browsing the books within the pop-up library in Brampton’s Community Center, a place which also hosts various fitness classes, choir practices, martial arts and social events for all ages. Similarly the Lady Olivia Centre presents a modern space for entertainment and social events and backs onto outdoor sports facilities. See what's on weekly here.

Brampton Primary School, led by headteacher, Mr Peter Allen, is a central part of the village. Brampton village’s first school was founded in 1840 by Philanthropist Lady Olivia Bernard Sparrow of Brampton Park, when it was formerly an estate. Today, the school overlooks The Green and welcomes approximately 600 students ages 4-11. With an ethos that fosters the value and consideration of each individual in their learning journey, Brampton Primary is an environment which promotes self-esteem, a respect for others and a genuine joy for learning and developing skills, both inside and outside the classroom. The school has its own environmental areas and nature pond to study wildlife. The grounds include a football pitch and netball courts and three separate play areas. The school continues to be a Good School (2023 Ofsted Report), a welcoming and friendly learning environment and a social hub of the village.

The Brambles Pre-School offers 32 places during term time for children aged 3 at the start of the academic year and who are looking to join Reception in the following September. As part of Brampton Primary School, Brambles is a friendly and welcoming environment to start your child’s learning journey and is in accordance with The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Bramble’s three prime areas of learning include, communication and language, personal, social, and emotional development and physical development. These areas are strengthened in the following four areas, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design. Enjoying an emphasis on nature and the outdoors, the children here can experience a range of immersive and rewarding activities.

Brampton Day Nursery is located on the High Street and cares for up to 48 children from the age of 3 months to 5 years. With safe outdoor spaces to play and learn, the nursery has a team of experienced childcare practitioners who create a homely and enjoyable environment for all the children. The team ensures they adapt the way they care for your baby to suit individual needs and routines. For toddlers, the children’s day becomes slightly more structured with activities to stimulate creativity.
